Bücher, Bücher!

aorinAnd so. It happened all on one night when I should be giving priority to other matters on my to-do-list. But instead, I decided to salvage some old books from the dust-filled, rat-infested attic... since my dad told me not waste money in re-purchasing some old novels and he was fairly sure I can find it somewhere in the store room. Though he didn't mention the possible conditions of the books, but I could fairly guess that most of it would have become a comfortable and homely place for the rats to breed and bring up their kids (and believe me, those rodents have a good taste in books).
After spending an hour of lifting, dusting, unbinding, and re-binding, I manage to rescue a few titles:

1. The Complete Illustrated Works of Hans Christian Andersen(♥♥♥)
2. The Complete Illustrated Works of the Brothers Grimm (♥♥, though the pests seem to share the same ♥ as I do)
3. The Complete Illustrated Works of Lewis Carroll (♥)
4. Creation of the Gods (Book I & II), translated by Gu Zhi Zhong (My all-time favourite!)
5. Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Book I & II) by Luo Guan Zhong (The vermin's favourite, I can tell, there were bite marks all over it!)
6. The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle (In a surprisingly good condition)
7. Four Novels (Great Expectations, Hard Times, A Christmas Carol, A Tale of Two Cities) by Charles Dickens (One small part of my sister's Dicken's collection)
8. The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer (Hmm... I must have been really ambitious when I bought this book about 10 years ago)
9. The Kama Sutra (... luckily, the rats weren't that interested)
10.Songs of Innocence and of Experience by William Blake (I told you those rats have good taste, they know a good poet when theymeet eat one)
11. Gray's Anatomy by Henry Gray ( I still can't believe that price of this 750-page book -- RM10, which means it is about USD2.5 -- it is dirt cheap)
12. First Aid Manual (6th Edition) (Whoa, this book was bought when I was still in Red Cross... which means this book is at least 15 years old!)
13. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet (A book that I never manage to get past it's first page, maybe it'll be different in my next attempt)
14. Different Seasons feat. The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King
15. Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul
16. An Aid to Mastering English
17. Essential English Usage and Grammar

Books that I wanted to save but unfortunately, didn't make it back to see the light of day.
1. The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder (and there I thought Sophie's World was the first book of his in my collection)
2. The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder
3. Metamorphoses by Publius Ovidius Naso aka Ovid (in it's worst and most pathetic condition ever!)
4. The Rainbow by D.H.Lawrence
5. Meg: The Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten (the status of it's cover is indeed downright terrifying)
6. Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott

Books that I was searching for, but suspected it has become a rat-hole (or a few rat-holes).
1. My Entire Collection of Roald Dahl's novels
2. The Odyssey by Homer
Note to self: Now, I need to visit the drug store to get some antiseptic liquid and then, I'll get myself to the stationary shop to buy some book wrapper(s) x3
